First day in Melbourne

I don't know why I am blogging about all this when I should be doing it months ago.

Anyway, it wasn't one of my happiest days when I first arrived in Melbourne. Yes the excitement was there but I was too exhausted to give a damn about the whole lot other things, given that I didn't sleep during my midnight flight.

I was quite disappointed on my arrival day in fact. Waited at the airport for 3-4 fucking hours for the Monash Airport pick-up. I had no idea what happened. I was not the only one who was waiting. There were a lot of students coming in on that day too. I reckon the university got mixed up or something that could have caused the delay.

Finally the bus arrived and we just dumped our luggages into a ... whatever you call that thing.

Melbourne people are friendly! The driver was very helpful and apologized for the delay. During our ride to the campus, he gave us a short-tour of the city.

Thought things would go smoothly after the bus driver came. I was wrong. After 1 hour of ride from the airport, I finally got to the place where I would be renting for the next 6 months. My first impression of the place was..... oh my god, thank god i'm gonna be staying here for just 5-6 months. Although I did a little bit of Google Street before but the reality always looks so much worse, in this case.

I got inside the place to find out my room was locked. I had to wait for the landlord to come over. MORE WAITING. Great. I reached the place at 2pm. I couldn't make any phone call. But I forgot what I did in order to reach the landlord. All I remember was I had to make contact with my friend in Brunei, to call the landlord in Melbourne. How ridiculous was that? The landlord said he would come at 5pm. I was hungry. There was no food. It was the second day of CNY. Hoorah! Still, no sign of the landlord at 5.15pm. He only arrived at 7pm. Fuck.

Was already so pissed at the landlord and was forced to give him a smile. After I was done with the payment and the legal stuffs, he was kind enough to drive us to the nearby town, Clayton, to pick up some grocery.

I have a paper to sit in 13 hours time, yet I find myself blogging here. I'm feeling quite sleepy rather than the usual being nervous-can't-finish-studying emotion. Winter is bad. I've been feeling sleepy almost everyday when I'm at home. Sleeping never felt so good during winter times. Now I know why some animals hibernate.

Today I took a long 30 minutes walk from my place to Rusden Hall to meet HuiKuang, a fellow ex-classmate during my A-levels, for lunch at Nando's. The path that I took today reminded me of the path that I once had 4 months back in late February. It was like deja vu.

It really saddens me that my time here is coming to an end. It has been a wonderful 4 months (and counting 5) of my life. It is a lovely campus, although there are no historical castles and buildings. At least it is better than the concrete grey tall buildings at Sunway campus. Of course, I enjoyed the lecturers' teachings too.

This year is the second consecutive year that I did not get to spend Chinese New Year back at hometown, and also the second consecutive year that I had to spend in Singapore, almost. Only that I had to fly to Melbourne on the night of the first day of CNY.

Well, it was Jeslyn's, my niece, first CNY celebration. Though I have no income to give her ang-pao. Maybe next time eh? Photo taken at Changi International Airport, Terminal 3.

Was about to have my longest flight so far, 8 hours. The flight was delayed to due air-conditioning problem. The plane was 37C. Imagine...being in a human body. Oh yeah, that's how warm it feels like. Daren and I went around the terminal to do some last minute shopping. Couldn't remember what he bought, think it was some Nintendo DS game.

Frankly, I did not enjoy it at all although it was the latest Singapore Airlines A380 flight. It was a midnight flight. Thinking that I would fall asleep in the plane, I did not. It was dreadful. Although the plane was huge, but not the gap between seats. But I was served with good food and entertained by the in-flight entertainment. Watched 3 bloody movies.

Although I did enjoy one bit. Watching the sun rise from the plane. It was beautiful.

I'm back for a bit. I believe I have not made an official announcement that I am in Melbourne, Australia and have been here since February 2010. But my time here will soon come to an end. It is an awesome intercampus exchange programme offered by the university between Sunway campus of Malaysia and Clayton campus of Australia. The country where you can find puffy balls sleeping lazily on trees.

I arrived here on late summer where the highest temperature I experienced was 40C. The funny thing about Australia compared to Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries is that this piece of continent is so dry that I don't sweat, as disgusting as I sound like. Even at high temperature as 40C, I did not sweat at all. That felt weird.

The lowest temperature I have experienced, yet, was as low as 4C during autumn. I loved autumn. Below is a photo which explains why I loved autumn.

Right now, it is early winter and of course the exam season, and also the football season. This is just gonna be a brief update. Will be updating more after my exam is done. Goodluck for those sitting for finals!

Why am I not updating my blog? Reason being that I just spent the last two months working at Pantai Premier Pathology lab at Pantai Medical Centre Cheras and Bangsar. Yes, you might be thinking that now that I have finished my attachment, I should be updating. I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you readers for now because I need to pack my room into boxes. Leaving to Singapore on the 10th February then to Melbourne on the 14th February.

Can't wait to see my family and friends in Singapore! =D

Taipei Day 04 - DanShui, Fisherman's Wharf and Ximen

After so many days of raining, the sun finally appeared this morning. Yes, it only lasted this morning and it started to drizzle again in the afternoon. Woke up early with the mindset that I needed to go around and start taking photographs. It was a fine morning for sight-seeing.

Took the public bus and the MRT.

I've always wandered why KL/Selangor does not have a really nice MRT system. The LRT/Star/KTM lines suck! If they had built this MRT system, I am very sure that it will definitely decrease the hectic traffic that occurs at almost every corner of the hot spots. Moreover, it will be more bring advantages to us people without cars. One thing I cannot help noticing is the service here in Taipei. Oh my god. Their service is absolutely brilliant. They are very polite and talk in a really nice way to all the customers. Sigh, here I am complaining about Malaysia again. Food in KL sucks. The vegetables are not fresh, let alone the seafood.

Enough about Malaysia, this post is not dedicated to you. I should not be even talking about you.

After a long journey up to the north of Taipei County, my dad and I arrived at Danshui and headed straight to the Old Streets of Danshui.

We headed to Ximending next. '2012' seems to be EVERYWHERE! Which reminds me I really need to watch this movie.

Frankly, I don't really enjoy shopping at Ximending. The shops simply do not attract me. No idea why. I was never attracted to Ximending when I first visited 5 years ago. Why was I there? To take pictures. =D

Taipei Day 03 - LongShan Temple

The temperature stays at 16 C today but that did not stop me from going out. Today I had the most expensive lunch I have ever had. The bill was NT$1980, equivalent to RM198 and SGD99. This is what we had.

After lunch, I decided to explore the city, well, it only lasted for 2 hours as I had to go back for dinner by 6.30pm. Mom wanted to stay in and take care of the babies so my dad and I went out. Took a taxi to ZhongFu MRT Station, cost NT80. Then from the station we boarded the train and headed to LongShan Temple MRT Station.

The temperature has dropped to 16 C today. Having raised at a tropical country, I find it absolutely brilliant and cool, other than the fact that it was really freezing when the wind blows. And the best thing is that I won't be sweating for the next two weeks, as sick as I may sound like.

Today was a lazy day. It was showering, which explained the drop in temperature, and the weather was gloomy. I decided to get myself a temporary taiwan pho

The rest of the day was spent watching downloaded TV series, playing with Sebastian (Golden retriever), being sexually harassed and humped by Sebastian, and playing with my nephew, Dylan.

Had dinner at a nearby restaurant. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera along. This is what I had for dinner today.

Took Sebastian out for a walk after that. And he started to piss everywhere. Goodness.

And even made a cake.

Blogging at Taipei. Have ignored this blog for the past couple of months but I have a good excuse for it: study!

I am done with the semester. I did quite well for Anatomy paper and Application of Science paper. I did very badly for both my Cellular Metabolism and Physiology of Human Health papers. I hope I can pass. =x

Will be spending 2 weeks here in Taiwan. Not sure what I'm going to do, but definitely going to walk walk see see. It's not my first visit and I am not as excited as I could be. I am tired and sleepy. I actually felt very sleepy at around 8.30pm just now. Eyes were heavy and sore. Maybe because of the gloomy weather. Day time is shorter. Gets dark by 5pm and I thought it was 8pm.

This post is going to be a short one, evidently. I need to get myself a universal adapter. The one that I bought at Jusco was so cacat! Wasted my money. Need to get a new one. And a current converter. The voltage usage used here is 120V. Some of my stuffs are Made in Malaysia. Kanasai lah... can only support 240V~. the product should support 100-240V. sheeshh.

It's not dead

As promised, I am finally updating my blog. I have been neglecting it for an apparent reason and have somehow chosen to tweet, instead of blog. Ah, I love twitter.

After ten weeks of torture, I am finally having my mid-semester break. I have no idea why my mid-semester break is scheduled after Week 10. It should have been called the end-semester break. This semester is definitely more demanding than the previous two, for one thing, I am in my second year. Although there was less lab reports to be written, nevertheless the work load does not stop there. The syllabuses are getting tougher where I am learning from the basic cellular functions and metabolism to how our body is structured in such a way that I may need to memorize every single bones, muscles and nerves allocated. And I may need to relate them to its physiology. Brilliant eh?

I have signed up for the Intercampus Exchange program whereby I'll be exchanging to Monash Clayton Campus in Melbourne for one semester next year (Mid-Feb, 2010 - Mid-July 2010), provided the application will be approved. This is a great offer from the university. Not only do I pay in Ringgit Malaysia for my tuition fee, I get to receive a tuition grant worth of AUD3500! Amazing, isn't it!

Now that the break is finally here. I get to relax a bit before I start to immerse myself into my one last bit of assignment and to start studying for my finals. I will be going to Genting Highlands tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll be able to break away from the hot weather of Selangor! Not to mention to have fun and burn some cash! Hohoho...

Exhausting Day

Yesterday was not a good day. Upon waking up, I heard the tragic news of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I was a fan of his. I was one of the fortunates who went to his concert in Brunei and witnessed his majestic performance with the all time favourite crotch-touching dance and the moon walk. His performances and songs will never be forgotten. He is a true King.

But life goes on, I have to put the emotions aside and make my way to Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur to collect my marathon race pack. I hate the public transport in Malaysia. Upon reaching, there it was, hundreds of people already lining up for the collection. Fuck.

It was a disaster. It was taking so slow that the line only started to move once every 30 minutes. I shall not talk about what happened.

Got my pack after 2-3 hours of Q-ing.

My day was wasted as I got back home mentally and physically exhausted. I didn't have the mood to study, let alone the topics covered for Monday's exam (the day after the marathon) was too broad.

Wish me luck for the marathon and hope that I can finish the race!

Another unproductive day was well spent at the uni today. For the first time in my life, I woke up at 5.30am for a morning run. The reason being that I was doing a last minute training for the Standard Chartered KL Marathon, happening on the 28th June. The training has not been going well, I must say. Let's just hope I can finish the race on time.

As usual, I stayed up late at uni today. Normally, I would join my friends for dinner outside the campus. Today was not like any other day. I had takeaway instead. My dinner was Fried Laksa. Yes, Fried Laksa. There is a thing called Fried Laksa.

My first paper, Fundamentals of Biotechnology is due in just 10 days, followed by Biology II paper which falls on the next day. My last paper, Chemistry, falls on the 29th June. I am very fortunate to have my exam timetable scheduled in such a way that gives me ample of time to prepare, hopefully. Almost one month to prepare to be exact, compared to the other faculties which have only two weeks time. I have been trying my very best in using the available weeks cramming the thirteen weeks of lectures by staying up at the campus until late night, and by late night means 12am. Thanks to Justin for sending me and Julius back home safely every night.

I have to admit, I am more hardworking than last semester. I hope my hard work pays off. Sadly (oh well), my entrance scholarship has been suspended for the current semester and will only be continued once I meet the requirement for this semester.

While my family in Singapore was busy visiting the Botanical Garden, I myself was heading to the hazy Kuala Lumpur in the hope of indulging the kremiest orgasmic doughnut ever made, Krispy Kreme.

One thing I noticed about while waiting for the bus at KL Sentral, which took exceptionally longer time than expected. Not the point here. I noticed this 'Be the Next BIG THING' poster/ad next to the KL Monorail station. What was so interesting is that all the Chinese top achievers were placed first then the last two being the Malay and Indian were being held in 'jail'. Not trying to be racist here, well that's what the some of the Malaysian Malays would say. =) Then I also noticed that a stall was set up just outside the monorail station. I got to thinking, does it need a license to run the stall, what about hygiene, will they be caught (obviously they did not), will the Chinese be caught if they open up a stall like this in front of KL Monorail station (I highly think so! Of course the Chinese would never do such a thing like this. =D )

One of the craziest things I've ever done. Bought to ticket from Sunway to Singapore to watch the Distant Worlds Final Fantasy Performance. It was so worth it even though my mom was silently nagging about it.

The performance was held at the iconic Esplanade Concert Hall.

The Soya Shop, Summit USJ

This shop pisses me off! I was going to try the soya juice as WanTheng recommended me it was nice. Well, it was actually. Back to the story.

As I approached to the counter and asked for a cup, that cost RM2.20. The shop owner smiled at me, greeted me nicely. I did not have any smaller change, only two RM50 notes and RM1 note. So I gave the shop owner RM50. The shop owner looked at the note and asked me, "Don't have 20 cents?" I shook my head. She then questioned me if I have a smaller change. Again, I shook my head and replied to her that I have RM1 though.

She then SLAMMED the cash register. Took out 80 cents roughly. Then took out another four RM10 notes followed by one RM5 and RM2 notes and threw at me. FUCK YOU BITCH! Then she threw me the receipt.

FUCK YOU LAH! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? I DID NOT HAVE SMALLER CHANGE, YOU NEEDED TO TREAT CUSTOMER LIKE THIS? NO WONDER YOUR SHOP DOES NOT HAVE THAT MANY CUSTOMER.

I did not want to bring up an argument. So I took the money and walked away, never again to go back to that place again, no matter how good your soy juice tastes but your service SUCKS!

Life as a Science Student

The semester break is finally here. The one that Monashians complain that it is not really a break, but a one-week-off to complete all the assignments and lab reports. Even my planned short trip to Singapore to visit my family would have to defer. With 2 chemistry lab reports, 1 biology major essay, 1 malay 8-pages long essay to do, where do I even find the time to start revising on my studies in this short one-week break?

Finally, having learned so much about electrophoresis, we finally got the chance to apply it!

My 100th post: I shall dedicate this post to favourite niece, Jeslyn Wong! Welcome to this wonderful world! Just last week, I had a short trip down to Singapore, together with my parents, to celebrate baby Jeslyn's one month old birthday, or rather a baby shower.

Why Tune Hotels is cheap!

Tune Hotel, a 5-star sleeping experience in a 1-star price? Maybe. I went to pick my parents up from KLIA-LCC-T. Instead of returning all the way back to USJ1, I decided to rent two rooms at the newly opened Tune Hotel KLIA-Sepang branch. Upon picking parents up and had a light supper, we decided it was time to check in at the hotel. The time was already past 12 midnight and the so-called TuneHotels van was nowhere to be found. We had to walk ALL the way to the hotel. Okay, maybe I was trying to exaggerate with the all-capitals. It was only a brief 7-8 minutes walking distance.

Checked in at the hotel. We had to pay a deposit of RM5 for the room card key. In case we decided to steal the card key, which I normally used to do, as a souvenir. =)

The room was fucking small! Just small enough for two people, like ngam-ngam, okay-lah, you have to squeeze a bit. Luckily, I booked two rooms. One for my parents and one for myself.

Sooo many soon-to-be-advertisements?

‘Tune Hotels.com’ is everywhere, even the bathroom door. Like scared we are going to forget which hotel we live in.

Even have to purchase sanitary disposable bag.

Oh, York! I have the same speed unit in my room.

I wonder how much did York pay for its advertisement.

Aftermath II.

Okay. This is what happened to my house. Stupid landslide. Here's the story:

It was around 2 a.m. when my mom was awaken by some noise from the garage. She took a peek from the window and thought that the whole thing was going to collapse. So she woke my dad up and asked him to drive the new second-hand Proton Waja away (the Pajero was sold!). Five minutes after driving the car away to a safe area, muds started rushing down the hill, together with the bamboos. Goodness... Thank God for my mom. Else I couldn't believe what would have happened if she didn't wake up.

The door was blocked. So had to smash the side windows to recover our things. That was my cousin.

For those who have been to my house: This is the living room + my bedroom. =/

Erm, my bedroom + Kitchen.

Most of my CDs and DVDs are gone. *near thousand bucks* *ouch!* Luckily, my Harry Potter books were saved. So were my Utada CDs (scratches) and my PC. Sigh.... *Donation people!*

I peered over and saw a miniature image of my eldest sister, Lisa, along with her name on the screen as the new "Love, Save The Empty" ringtone by Erin McCarley sang through the melodious song. It was a song from the movie "He's Just Not That Into You", which I fell in love with recently. I could not stop but wonder why was she calling me in the middle of the day, especially when she has been complaining the amount of work load ever since she started the job. I picked up the call and spoke in a casual tone.

"Hello."

"Hi. At home? No class today?"

"Yeah, at home. Nope, no more class already mah."

"Oh yeah."

There was a pause before she continued.

"Dad called just now."

"Uh-huh...."

"There was a land-slide at our home."

"What???"

"The house has been re-structured...."

When I was in Singapore, I found out that there is actually a Crumpler shop at KLCC. Heck! Been living there for the past couple of months! I have returned to KL. It was one of my longest stays in Singapore and would also be one of the productive visits? Not quite sure what I was trying to say. I forgot to mention I saw 黑人 in my previous post. Amilyn and I were at Bugis. I wanted to buy a Geek Glasses for the NUSS Geek VS. Glam Party, which did not manage to put in good use in the end. While trying to cross the road to Bugis Junction, this is what happened:We were trapped amongst the people. How pathetic! Fortunately, we managed to squeeze ourselves and crossed the road. Since I am a member of Fitness First and entitled for a free international passport, meaning can enjoy the usage of other branch around the globe. I took this opportunity to try out one of the branches here in Singapore. It is located on the 23rd-25th floor at Fusionopolis, Buona Vista. Their facilities are so much better than the ones we had at Summit USJ branch. I regret for not taking pictures. However, the only thing I hate about this branch is the service. THEY ARE NOT FRIENDLY! THE STAFFS AT FF FUSIONOPOLIS ARE NOT FRIENDLY! I REPEAT!!!!

Enough said about Fitness First, let's talk about food. When I first got to KL, I was very disappointing that they do not have Mos Burger. I adore their rice burgers. One of my favourites is Ebi Rice Burger.

Ever since I have settled down at KL, visiting Singapore was not as hassle/expensive as it was back in Brunei. Thanks to the affordable plane and coach tickets, I now can visit Singapore whenever I feel like, if my assignment and school stuff permit. So far, I have only visited Singapore three times. The first two were weekend visits so things were a little rush. This time, I am staying for 12 days. It is also the first time spending Chinese New Year outside Malaysia, without my parents and grandparents. No real live bloody pig-slaughtering scene, no rib-opened pig BBQ, no fireworks. Yeah, we slaughter pig every Chinese New Year and have it BBQ-ed. See how kampong I am?

This year round, I am spending Chinese New Year in Singapore, together with my eldest sister and brother-in-law and family. Fortunately, I managed to get the cheapest flight available to Singapore via Jetstar. Cost me SGD33.00 one way. Cheap leh??? I have always wanted to take the KLIA Express and this was the chance. So from KL Sentral to KLIA took 24 minutes, actually arrived at the airport earlier and ended up doing my assignment at the airport’s MacDonald outlet. I should be enjoying the pleasant comfort trip to KLIA but there was this stupid Indian, who talked on the phone so fucking loudly. Even when I have my iPod earphone plugged inside my ear, playing loud music, I could still hear his bloody voice. Have some respect to other people please lar...

While attempting to do my assignment at MacDonald, there was a mainland guy sitting behind me. Not to be racist here, but one would expect a mainland to have a rather different attitude and behaviour compared to typical Malaysian and Singaporean Chinese. Apparently, this guy started to yell about a missing person, his wife perhaps. When his wife returned, he started shouting at her and demanded to know where did she go. She replied she was at the toilet. It is a good excuse right? But the guy did not stop yelling but continued to scold at her. Rubbish bullshit. What is wrong is the guy? I could not stand the commotion but to leave my table. As I was leaving, I saw the girl wiping tears with the tissue and all I heard was yelling and more yelling. I left the scene and went for check-in, grabbed the boarding pass and went straight to take the tram to satellite building to enjoy my Starbucks. =D The internet connection at KLIA sucks by the way.

After 2 hours, I arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 1. It was the first time stepping into Terminal 1. Sadly, I did not have the time to explore as I had to rush to take the train to my sister’s place. I decided not to take a cab so as to save money, 10 times cheaper. Although cheaper, it took me bloody one and a half hour to reach Boon Lay, literally travelled from the east to the west of the island.

Blue KL

I woke up today and the first thing I saw was the beautiful blue sky. It's really hard to get a clear blue sky like this nowadays in Kuala Lumpur/Petaling Jaya. Normally, it would be really hazy and all you would see are dark or grey clouds in the sky. I came up with a conclusion today. With the presence of thick grey clouds, they trap car exhaust in the air, hence causing the KL haze. But today, it's a clear blue sky, and the air is surprisingly 'clean', well compared to other normal days.

Revenge of the Cockroach

I believe I have forgotten to wish myself 'Best of 2009' as bad things have started lining up my life at the beginning of the year. I may sound crazy but I believe karma has come to haunt me. Just five days ago, I sent an innocent little creature, 小強 A.K.A. a cockroach, to meet its God by brutally flushing it down the pipes with strong forces of 'holy water'. Now 小強 has come back to haunt me.

Firstly, things started not going to well when a friend of mine was upset/mad/angry at me for the thing I did, which I find nothing wrong at all. I shall leave this behind.

Secondly, Airasia was playing tricks on me when they decided to have a SALE just the day after I bought a rather costly air ticket to a beautiful island.

Lastly (please let it be), I feel my immune system is breaking down at the wrong time of the year just when I have decided to turn into a nerd.

CHALLENGES, is what I see!

However, one good thing did happen today. I managed to contact a real estate agent. My friends and I have decided to rent a unit on the same tower, or preferably the next tower that I am currently staying. It is not only cheaper but more privacy. I would be moving by February, I hope.

I've had a blast in 2008!

I was one of the top scorers for GCE 'A' Level in the country.

I actually left a mark on the surface on one the rocks in Jerudong Beach few days prior to my departure. I wonder if it's still there.

Met awesome colleagues during the seven-months period of doing-nothing, which earned me a MacBook and iPod touch. *wee*

I think someone drugged me. I woke up an hour ago wondering why did I fall asleep. It was about 8.00pm when I woke up and of course my mind was already thinking what to have for dinner. I went to my fridge to have yoghurt for a bit and to my fucking amazement, the three 0% Fat Marigold Yoghurts were gone! What the hell steals yoghurt! AND ALL THREE OF THEM!

And a few minutes later, I also found out that my Milo was gone as well! WHAT THE FUCK! Clearance-Steal is it? Thank God I didn't buy Ben & Jerry, else I think that would be gone too. My Milo and Yoghurts? Seriously? The hell...

I put the 3 yoghurts in between the two HL milk cartons. I opened the fridge today and bam! GONE!

The Milo was placed beside the Nestle thingy for weeks and today GONE!

Three Places

Literally three places. 1) Parliament House 2) KLCC Convention Centre 3) Singapore

What was I doing at the Parliament House, all dressed up in business attire. It was part of my Malaysian Studies course. Apparently, only the summer intakes get to visit the places (including National Museum). Should I be any happy? Well, hard to say. At least we were allowed to get away from two-hours of boring lecture but we have to write a 4-page long report. Sigh. And another one on the National Museum. Meaning 8 pages of report.

Once we got inside the building, we were led to Dewan Rakyat. It was a big hall, with other people talking/shouting/arguing whatever political issues.

Next day, all dressed up again to meet Mr. Clinton, former President of United States.

On the very same night, I took the Aeroline coach to Singapore at 11.30pm, arriving at Harbour Front at 4.30pm. Took a cab which cost me SGD$19.00 to my sister's place.

And....the annual Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008.
Forgive me as I shall skip talking about the marathon.

Skytrex Adventure

Remember that I was talking about my fear of heights. Well today, I was invited by one of my friends, Pritam, for an adventurous challenge at Skytrex Adventure, Shah Alam. I was crazy enough to have accepted his invitation knowing that I was afraid of heights. But you can't stop a kid from having fun! And I'm proud to announce that I passed all the challenges and obstacles, while hurting my fingers in the process, climbing between trees and walking along the canopies and the best of all, flying fox.

Was on the road when we saw this awesomely cool license plate! 'OMG - STFU'.

After we were done with the training, we were then guided to another platform where the real challenges began. We had to climb up this tree that stood very tall high up in the canopy. Believe me, it was not as easy as it looked.

After climbing up the tree, the next obstacle was to cross over this net-like bridge. It wasn't so bad after all. =)

Well this looked scary. Was scared the shit out of me. While on the platform, I was cursing like I've never cursed before. I mean, FUCK! Had to cross this zig-zag thingy. But I made it.

After the zig-zag, came the flying fox. Wee~~It was a short one though.

The next obstacle would be walking on the rounded bamboo bridge followed by the black-logs-thingy. The black logs was difficult. Had to hang myself to cross the obstacle. Wasn't able to keep myself stable to stand on them.

Now this is challenging! We actually had to swing from one plank to the next using the rope. Was only able to swing for the first 7 or 8 but got myself unbalanced at the last 3 and was told to do the crab-walk along the wire.

Another zig-zag. But this one was so much longer and more dangerous. I almost lost my balance at one point and the whole thing would swing towards the left/right. Scared the shit out of me.

A longer suspension bridge? Everything seemed to be longer and more dangerous towards the end of the challenge.

The second last challenge. Where we would swing from the platform to the spider web. =D And climb ourselves towards the platform on the left hand side. And of course the last obstacle would be the flying fox.

One of the most amazing things I've ever done in my life. This is something I would not forget! =D And it's only just the beginning. Hehehehe....

This week's update

A friend of mine, CheeHwa, came from a visit. Sadly, he came at the wrong time as only the Monashians were free. I texted HengSoon for the meet-up but he was too busy with his assignments. Bummer. Texted Susan and she was at Genting. Texted XueRui but no reply. Hmpf!

But still I only met up with him once. Didn't really have the time to catch up with him, sadly.

So this other friend of mine, WanTheng - doing Business at Monash as well, and me myself took the mini bus 66 to Sunway Pyramid. From there, we took another bus U63 straight to KL Sentral before taking the KL Monorail to Bukit Bintang Station. There, should anyone of you would like to know how to go to KL from Sunway, I've just given the cheapest route available. The journey takes approximately 1 hour, including waiting for the bus and train and walking.

Met CheeHwa at Sg. Wang entrance and then headed off to Pavilion. Gosh, wish I had the money to go shopping at Pavilion.

10 days off

In case you didn't know, I was on a 10 days holiday trip with a couple of my friends to Malacca, Cameron Highlands and Kota Kinabalu. I think I've spent RM1000 on the trip, excluding the air-ticket. Yeah, that hurt.

First stop, Malacca. I didn't know Malacca was proclaimed as the World Heritage Site until I got there!

End of Semester

Semester has finally come to an end, officially that is. Can't believe it has been 4 months since I came here and, I still cannot believe it. Part of me still feels like I've never left home. Maybe because life here is so hectic and full of schedule until I never actually got the time to really sit down and relax.

Exams are over and I can relax for a bit before the results release, which would be on the 28th November. Can't say I did really well for my finals. This semester has not been a very productive one for me. I've been flying here and there (not to blame you, sister) and the mood to study was just not there! Having said that, I doubt I'll be able to secure my scholarship for the coming semester.

So, after I was done with my last paper. Despite I only had 2 hours of sleep the night before, I decided to go to Sunway Pyramid to treat myself nice food, along with two other friends of mine.

The most expensive fast food I've ever had. Not planning to have one again until I have at least 5 digits in my bank account.

Later, 2 other friends joined us. We watched the movie, Tropic Thunder. If you have not watched this movie, find some time and watch it. It's one of the best movie of Ben's. In fact, he himself directed the movie! And there's gonna be Jack Black and Iron Man and a hidden Tom Cruise! =D After we were done with the movie, we went to Pasta de Gohan. My friend was hungry. I, on the other hand, wasn't feeling using-money-on-expensive-food-ish.

Yes, that's a pizza. And it was that fucking small and thin! Heck, it was expensive! I could have ordered myself Domino's.

And no, this is not one of the main courses. Haha, it was just something I was playing with. Peppermint.

Indoor Pollution [Updated]

Living with male housemates could be a total hardcore at times. Especially when they do not clean up the mess they made.

I'll start off by complaining about the indoor pollution that we/they've caused in my unit.

1) The dirt and muds they brought into the house with their/my shoes. Nobody wants to buy a shoe rack.
2) Unwashed dishes. Seriously people! Please wash your dishes! I swear this plate was there for a few days. It had chicken bones on it before.

3) Something you wouldn't believe. Corpses of small flying organisms in the fridge! Poor them, who told them to breed in the fridge at first?!

4) Under garments laying around the balcony walls. This is not a pleasant scene. Mind you people. At least hang them!

5) And the most common of all, dirts! Well at least they're not everywhere. They've been swept into a designated area close to the bin so when the cleaning lady comes, she'll take good care of them.

What you would do when you don't have have a proper equipment to hang your clothes to dry. LOL!!!
I wonder what would people think when they glance up the condominium and find these 3 pieces of clothing, hanging by the window, competing to get the UV rays so that they won't stink!

I GOT A PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP FROM MONASH UNIVERSITY! Okay, its only 20%. It's better than nothing right????

So I attended the Scholarship Ceremony this morning having to wear a semi-formal attire. Everybody seemed to be asking me, 'Eh, why you dress so formal?' And I would answer them, 'No lar, I ran out of normal clothes. So I had to wear what's left.' =p

The journey took 5+ hours. The seat was really comfy btw. Considering I paid RM80 for the ticket!!! Alighted at Harbour Front and straight away took the train to my sister's place, all the way in Boon Lay. So another 1 hour wasted. After settling at my sister's place, went out to meet Amilyn, SengYen, Stella and Alicia at vivocity. Took the train to Harbour Front, again! So it's like back and forth... Another 1 hour wasted.

Had dinner at FoodRepublic. Complained about how expensive the food was.

DAY 2 at Singapore

Slept till afternoon. Had my hair trimmed. Went shopping with sister+hubby. After dinner, went to NUS to meet up with Amilyn and Stella.

Amilyn's Hall, or rather Sheare's Hall. LOL. After Amilyn was done packing her things, we went to PGP where Stella was staying. PGP was like a condo!!!!! Loves it.

Had a special treatment by the girls. =p

Played Monopoly the whole night. Oh wait, the girls were watching taiwan series before this. Stella looking exhausted given that she was about to declare bankruptcy. HAHA

Those three red buildings were the hotels I built. HAHAH...danger zone. Amilyn looking worried, or rather not. =p

Ta-da~~~~ I'm officially 20 years old. I feel old. Thank god I don't look old. Tee-hee...Though its my birthday today, I'm still packed with the never-ending coursework. Sigh...

So I was having a conversation with Nee, one of my coursemates, in my room. There came a knock on the door. I was thinking did my roomie forgot his key again? But then the door wasn't lock. So what the hell I thought. I went and opened the door. I never expected that they were going to give me a surprise. Man, it was really surprising. Goodwork guys! =p

I'd like to thank you guys for the surprise. I was really touched. Notice the difference? There are a few things added. Bought some of the stuffs from IKEA and they really did clean the mess up. Before this, all my stuffs were everywhere!

Although its as simple as a file stack, it helped to clean up the space for my tiny table.

Erm, the divider? Don't know what they're called but they're awesome! Emptied my lower wardrobe drawer that used to have my briefs and socks! =D

AND!!! The ass-comforter! I love this thing! Keeps my ass comfy. Stupid chair was really uncomfortable to sit.

Okay readers, this is how my room looks like. Well, part of my room. I only took a shot of my side of my room. Basically, MacBook on the freaking small table. Huge Monash University calendar. Expensive Year 1, Semester One books on the book shelve.

My wardrobe, consisting of more than enough of my clothes. I regret for bringing so much clothes, yet I bought some more here. Its on SALE okay?! =p

So I'm back on the Borneo Island again to attend my sister's wedding dinner. It's really disappointing that I missed the tea ceremony as my flight arrived at Sibu at 1.00pm. Bummer...

It was a simple dinner consisted of only 11 tables of close relatives. I guess the real big wedding dinner will be held in Taipei. And yes, I will be flying to Taipei for the dinner *YAY!*
Although it was a small one, it was heart touching especially when my sister made the thank you speech on the stage. I was surprised to see my dad cried. Well, not really cried but drops of tears lar..
It reminded me when my sister told me that my dad cried in the lift after leaving my hostel room. I never would have thought my dad would be that emotional. I mean, it should be my mom but its not. Haha... But nevertheless, I was really touched and loved.

Friday morning:

Had my very first practical experience in the campus laboratory dealing with Quantitative Determination of Proteins Using the Biuret Test. Absorbance was included in the measurement so I encountered a new type of instrument which I've never seen before. It was called spectrophotometer. The experiment was rather simple but the hard part was writing a lab report. Sigh... The due date is next Friday but due to my absence from Wednesday to Friday next week. I think I must hand in by Tuesday? Shit... And I've never written a report before. Damn A-Level never taught us how to write.

Cam-whoring session after lab session. Notice that only the girl on the right hand side was wearing lab-coat. Mind you we all have to wear lab coats else we'll be kicked out from the lab. The rest of us have taken off our coats. Shouldn't have done that if we knew there was a cam-whoring session.

Friday evening:

The lab session lasted for 3 hours (and I still think the time was not enough =/) and I had to wait until 5.30pm (yeah, in campus, spent my whole time in the library) before meeting with WanTheng, Julius and HengSoon and of course we were going to meet KahHou and JunChen at MidValley. Salsa dance workshop going on on the library rooftop, wished I had joined in earlier but had to meet up with the guys.

I apologize for the lack of words and descriptions in my recent posts. Much of my time has been dedicated to completing assignments, lab reports and so on. I do hope my dear readers would understand my difficulty. Pictures are worth a thousand words anyway. Hehe... But, I promise I will not abandon my blog and will be constantly updating it. Hehe...

An Update

Alright, it has been three weeks since I got here and I am getting used to the life here. Wakes up every morning hoping to catch the shuttle bus to campus on time, attends boring lectures and tutorials and exciting lab practical sessions, printing lecture notes and finding resources in the campus library, goes back home and starts to think what to eat for dinner. That is basically how my life goes over here.

I’ve met some great new friends. I was a little surprised to see one or two Bruneians or rather coming from Brunei, there’s one from JIS!

Some random photos taken during the adventurous walk to Sunway Pyramid from the campus. Before we started on this little adventure, I had to ask around if there was a shorter route to get to Pyramid and one of my friends came up with this statement, “Oh there is! You’re going to have to climb a wall!”

This is the wall that I thought we (Wan Theng and I) were going to climb. It is a wall but we don’t have to climb over simply because there’s an opening.

And then later on, we found a wall. There really was a wall. I later concluded that my friend wasn’t joking. There were a few bricks to support us. It was rather dangerous and they were not really balanced.

The bricks in the picture are stacked up by Wan Theng. Opps, I was not supposed to disclose the subject involved. HAHA

And so we climbed over the wall and Pyramid was just to the right.

There were having some sort of flowery exhibition where anything was covered with flowers. Pots, musical instruments and yes musical instruments. Even the chinese traditional instruments!

That's a flowery Grand Piano standing beside me. It looked like a coffin to me when view from this angle. Wan Theng and I were debating whether that event was a flower exhibition or rather a funeral. =p

Time is Not a factor?

I am angry about how my friends treated me. I was in complete shock having to hear the negative comments given to me. And worst of all, I had to hear it the night before I left Brunei.

Needless to say, the comments they made and the rumors that have been going around were in fact not true. I am very disappointed for those who looked at me differently as the time we spent together back in high school wasn’t a factor to our friendship anymore, clearly.

I am just really disappointed for those who were involved. Putting aside the time factor and let the rumors absorb into your brain cells?

It just hurts me having to hear it especially coming out from one of my close friends. I apologized for whatever reason that jeopardized our friendship but you have no rights to say that about me!

Orientation Week

So orientation week has come to an end. It was a successful one, thanks to the Buddies and MUSA crew. I'm sure we freshies had a great time.

The first day was basically the introduction by the chancellor of the university and some general introduction to campus and services. Nothing much to talk about here except that we were grouped into two batches because the auditorium can only fit a limited hundreds of people at a time. Having said that, the university had to come up with a brilliant hi-tech solution. I was at Audi 2. The chancellor was in Audi 1. So they had this video-link from Audi 1. It's like a live conferencing. I thought it was pretty cool.

The next few days later we had a tour around the campus. Although it was small, I'm pretty I would get lost in first few days of lecutures and tutorials, not to say the 3-hour practical session. The lab facilities were brilliant! I would say its a WOW.

One of the things I'm most worried about is the assignments and reports. I've never done any assignments nor reports and A-Level course never teaches us. According to our seniors, the A-Level holders might need extra exercise on that.

And the last day was our first ever MOlympic Games!

We had crazy games: Blindfold football, Human Structure, Decoration, Tug-of-war, 5x xx (forgotten), etc.

So I boarded the red airplane that night. It was my first time on AirAsia

. It was not bad as I expected it to be. The seats are real comfy, black-leathered. The surprising thing was that it took off 5 minutes earlier and we arrived 20 minutes early!

Took a taxi at the terminal and had a long one hour driving distance to the city as the hotel we were staying was located in the region.

My first meal in KL (Fried mee and Oyster Omelette)! We arrived at the hotel at around 12 midnight. Settled ourselves before heading out to have our supper in one of the unknown streets downtown. It was near Replica Inn, go figure that place out if you’re interested.

And ta-da! My new MacBook and iPod touch! Still fresh in the plastic!

20 years

20 years in Brunei.
Raised from a small cute little baby to a big chubby bitch (still cute of course =p).
Met wonderful friends which I'll never forget.

Leaving in 6 hours to Kuala Lumpur. Still not excited about it, currently very sleepy from the lack of sleep from tremendous so-called weeks of packing and watching tv series.

Hopefully I'll get excited in 8 hours time. Will get some sleep in the plane. Note: First time travelling in AirAsia.

I got a text sms from my agent (B Lau, good agent! The best in Brunei!) saying that I should drop by to pick up my Courier sent by Monash University. So I got there and learnt that they have secured a place for me in KL. *Thank God!*
So this place is called Casa Subang. My agent said she's yet to know the exact location and details of the place, still waiting for the black and white from KL. Hopefully will get the black and white by tomorrow.

So I googled Casa Subang. After several rubbish pages, I finally found one that is relevant to it.

Are you fucking serious?! They look like the legos in Hong Kong! This is the place I am going to stay? Wooooo~~~~~~~~The sad thing is its not located near my campus. No idea how far its going to be.

I believe I shall make an official announcement whether I've got an offer from NUS or not. Or should I not as I believe words have spreaded that I did not get a place there. That's right. Damn it!

And of course, people have been asking me "Did you ask them why they rejected you?" And I've been answering them "Yes I did".

This is the letter sent to NUS.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you in order to gain some clarification from your side.

It appears that my application to enter the Faculty of Science to pursue a
degree in Science has been denied. During the time of application, I have
made sure that I have fulfilled all conditions before submitting my
application.

Please let me know the reason of the denial of my application.

Also, the closing date for submitting appeals, should applications be
rejected, has passed while my application was still being processed. If I
were to say that I want to submit an appeal, how should I go about this?

Who poked me?

I was on my way to work like any other usual day. As I reached the junction that was about to exit to the main highway, I shifted to Gear 2. Nothing went wrong. I shifted to Gear 3, *eeeeeeeeehhhhhhh*, there was a loud sound from my car as if it was puking and cursing to me to stop driving. And of course I could not speed up no matter how I tried to accelerate. What the fuck went wrong, I thought.

Quickly, I made a U-turn back to my house and arrived back at home, again.

My dad was peering through the window, probably wondering why I was back. He opened the door and started shouting and pointing to the left side of the car. I didn't know what was happening as I had no view of the left-side of the car. Did I hit something and got stuck in the tyre?

I stopped the car and got out.

"Aiya...you want the tyre to get real damage is it? How can you drive out like this?"

Confused.

I walked towards the other side and to my astonishment, the tyre was flat! What the fuck.

Holy crap!

"What the?! How did it happen? I didn't even know it got punctured when I went out."

My mom came out.

"Why are you back? Did you forget something?"

I pointed at the punctured tyre.

"Aiya, I already told you you must always check the tyres whenever you go out! See see!!"

" ... ... ... "

So my dad changed the tyre with the spare one. I stood beside watching and studying him. Yes, I know I should have helped but I don't want to make things worse. He's kind of a one-man-guy. =p Like me... Haha.

See the tiny little crack/hole on the tyre?! This tiny little hole is the cause of it! Who/What dare to poke my car! Eeesh, and I was late for work.
